Samantabhadra’s King of Aspiration Prayers

Samantabhadra’s “ Aspiration To Good Actions ” -www.lotsawahouse.org

The Seven Preliminaries for Purifying the Mind
1. Prostration
To all the buddhas, the lions of the human race,

In all directions of the universe, through past and present and future:

To every single one of you, I bow in homage;

Devotion fills my body, speech and mind.

Through the power of this prayer, aspiring to Good Action,

All the victorious ones appear, vivid here before my mind.

And I multiply my body as many times as atoms in the universe,

Each one bowing in prostration to all the buddhas.

2. Offering
In every atom reside as many buddhas as there are atoms,

And around them, all their bodhisattva heirs,

And so I imagine them filling,

Completely the entire space of reality.

Saluting them with an endless ocean of praise,

With the sounds of an ocean of different melodies.

I sing of the buddhas’ noble qualities,

And praise all those who have gone to perfect bliss.

To every buddha, I make offerings:

Of the loveliest flowers, of beautiful garlands,

Of music and perfumed ointments, the best of parasols,

The brightest lamps and finest incense.

To every buddha, I make offerings:

Exquisite garments and the most fragrant scents,

Powdered incense, heaped as high as Mount Meru,

Arranged in perfect symmetry.

Then the vast and unsurpassable offerings,

Inspired by my devotion to all the buddhas, and

Moved by the power of my faith in Good Actions,

I prostrate and offer to all you victorious ones.

3. Confession
Whatever negative acts I have committed,

While driven by desire, hatred and ignorance,

With my body, my speech and also with my mind,

Before you, I confess and purify each and every one.

4. Rejoicing
With a heart full of delight, I rejoice at all the merits,

Of buddhas and bodhisattvas,

Pratyekabuddhas, those in training and the arhats beyond training,

And every living being, throughout the entire universe.

5. Imploring the Buddhas to Turn the Wheel of Dharma
You who are like beacons of light shining through the worlds,

Who passed through the stages of enlightenment, to attain buddhahood, freedom from all attachment,

I exhort you: all of you protectors,

Turn the unsurpassable wheel of Dharma.

6. Requesting the Buddhas not to Enter Nirvāṇa
Joining my palms together, I pray

To you who intend to pass into nirvāṇa,

Remain, for aeons as many as the atoms in this world,

And bring well-being and happiness to all living beings.

7. Dedication
What little virtue I have gathered through my homage,

Through offering, confession, and rejoicing,

Through exhortation and prayer—all of it

I dedicate to the enlightenment of all beings!

The Actual Aspiration

Aspiration for Purity of Attitude
Let offerings be made to buddhas of the past,

And all who now dwell throughout the ten directions of this universe!

Let all who are yet to come swiftly fulfil their wishes

And attain the stages of enlightenment and buddhahood!

Let as many worlds as there are in all the ten directions

Transform into realms that are vast and utterly pure,

Filled with buddhas who have sat before the mighty bodhi tree,

Around them all their bodhisattva sons and daughters!

Let as many sentient beings as there are in all the ten directions

Live always and forever in happiness and health!

Let all beings meet the Dharma

That befits them best! And so may all they hope for be fulfilled!

Aspiration Never to Forget the Bodhicitta
As I practise the training for enlightenment,

May I recall all my previous births,

And in my successive lives, through death and through rebirth,

May I always renounce the worldly life!

Training in the footsteps of all the victorious buddhas,

May I bring Good Actions to perfection,

And my moral conduct be taintless and pure,

Never lapsing, and always free from fault!

In the language of the gods, nāgas, and yakṣas,

In the language of demons and of humans too,

In however many kinds of speech there may be—

I shall proclaim the Dharma in the language of all!

Taming my mind, and striving in the pāramitās,

I will never forget the bodhicitta;

May all my harmful actions and the obscurations they cause

Be completely purified, every single one!

Aspiration to be Free from Defilements
May I be freed from karma, harmful emotions, and the work of negativity,

And act for all beings in the world,

Just like the lotus flower to which mud and water cannot cling,

Or sun and moon that course unhindered through the sky.

Aspiration to Lead Beings to Happiness
Throughout the reach and range of the entire universe

I shall pacify completely the suffering of all the lower realms,

I shall lead all beings to happiness,

And work for the ultimate benefit of each and every one!

Aspiration to Wear the Armour of Dedication
I shall bring enlightened action to perfection,

Serve beings so as to suit their needs,

Teach them to accomplish Good Actions,

And continue this, throughout all the aeons to come!

Aspiration to Accompany other Bodhisattvas
May I always meet and be accompanied by

Those whose actions accord with mine;

And in body, speech and mind as well,

May our actions and aspirations always be one!

Aspiration to Have Virtuous Teachers and to Please Them
May I always meet spiritual friends

Who long to be of true help to me,

And who teach me the Good Actions;

Never will I disappoint them!

Aspiration to See the Buddhas and Serve them in Person
May I always behold the buddhas, here before my eyes,

And around them all their bodhisattva sons and daughters.

Without ever tiring, throughout all the aeons to come,

May the offerings I make them be endless and vast!

Aspiration to Keep the Dharma Thriving
May I maintain the sacred teachings of the buddhas,

And cause enlightened action to appear;

May I train to perfection in Good Actions,

And practise these in every age to come!

Aspiration to Acquire Inexhaustible Treasure
As I wander through all states of samsaric existence,

May I gather inexhaustible merit and wisdom,

And so become an inexhaustible treasury of noble qualities—

Of skill and discernment, samādhi and liberation!

Aspiration to the Different Methods for Entering into the “Good Actions”
a) Seeing the Buddhas and their Pure Realms
In a single atom may I see as many pure realms as atoms in the universe:

And in each realm, buddhas beyond all imagining,

Encircled by all their bodhisattva heirs.

Along with them, may I perform the actions of enlightenment!

And so, in each direction, everywhere,

Even on the tip of a hair, may I see an ocean of buddhas—

All to come in past, present and future—in an ocean of pure realms,

And throughout an ocean of aeons, may I enter into enlightened action in each and every one!

b) Listening to the Speech of the Buddhas
Each single word of a buddha’s speech, that voice with its ocean of qualities,

Bears all the purity of the speech of all the buddhas,

Sounds that harmonize with the minds of all living beings:

May I always be engaged with the speech of the buddhas!

c) Hearing the Turning of the Wheels of Dharma
With all the power of my mind, may I hear and realize

The inexhaustible melody of the teachings spoken by

All the buddhas of past, present and future,

As they turn the wheels of Dharma!

d) Entering into All the Aeons
Just as the wisdom of the buddhas penetrates all future aeons,

So may I too know them, instantly,

And in each fraction of an instant may I know

All that will ever be, in past, present and future!

e) Seeing all the Buddhas in One Instant
In an instant, may I behold all those who are the lions of the human race—

The buddhas of past, present and future!

f) Entering the Sphere of Activity of the Buddhas
May I always be engaged in the buddhas’ way of life and action,

Through the power of liberation, where all is realized as like an illusion!

g). Accomplishing and Entering the Pure Lands
On a single atom, may I actually bring about

The entire array of pure realms of past, of present and future;

And then enter into those pure buddha realms

In each atom, and in each and every direction.

h) Entering into the Presence of the Buddhas
When those who illuminate the world, still to come,

Gradually attain buddhahood, turn the Wheel of Dharma,

And demonstrate the final, profound peace of nirvāṇa:

May I be always in their presence!

Aspiration to the Power of Enlightenment through Nine Powers
Through the power of swift miracles,

The power of the vehicle, like a doorway,

The power of conduct that possesses all virtuous qualities,

The power of loving kindness, all-pervasive,

The power of merit that is totally virtuous,

The power of wisdom free from attachment, and

The powers of knowledge, skilful means and samādhi,

May I perfectly accomplish the power of enlightenment!

Aspiration to the Antidotes that Pacify the Obscurations
May I purify the power of karma;

Destroy the power of harmful emotions;

Render negativity utterly powerless;

And perfect the power of Good Actions!

Aspiration to Enlightened Activities
I shall purify oceans of realms;

Liberate oceans of sentient beings;

Understand oceans of Dharma;

Realize oceans of wisdom;

Perfect oceans of actions;

Fulfil oceans of aspirations;

Serve oceans of buddhas!

And perform these, without ever growing weary, through oceans of aeons!

Aspiration for Training
a) To Emulate the buddhas
All the buddhas throughout the whole of time,

Attained enlightenment through Good Actions, and

Their prayers and aspirations for enlightened action:

May I fulfil them all completely!

b) To emulate the bodhisattvas: Samantabhadra
The eldest of the sons of all the buddhas

Is called Samantabhadra: ‘All-good’:

So that I may act with a skill like his,

I dedicate fully all these merits!

To purify my body, my speech and my mind as well,

To purify my actions, and all realms,

May I be the equal of Samantabhadra

In his skill in good dedication!

c) To emulate the bodhisattvas: Mañjuśrī
In order to perform the full virtue of Good Actions,

I shall act according to Mañjuśrī’s prayers of aspiration,

And without ever growing weary, in all the aeons to come,

I shall perfectly fulfil every one of his aims!

Concluding Aspiration
Let my bodhisattva acts be beyond measure!

Let my enlightened qualities be measureless too!

Keeping to this immeasurable activity,

May I accomplish all the miraculous powers of enlightenment!

Extent of the Aspiration

Sentient beings are as limitless

As the boundless expanse of space;

So shall my prayers of aspiration for them

Be as limitless as their karma and harmful emotions!

The Benefits of Making Aspirations

Whoever hears this king of dedication prayers, and yearns for supreme enlightenment; Who even once arouses faith, will gain true merit greater still than by offering the victorious buddhas Infinite pure realms in every directions, all ornamented with jewels, or offering them all the highest joys of gods and humans, for as many aeons as there are atoms in those realms.

The Thirteen Benefits in Detail

Whoever truly makes this Aspiration to Good Actions:

Will be never again be born in lower realms; They will be free from harmful companions, and soon behold the Buddha of Boundless Light.

They will acquire all kind of benefits, and live in happiness; Even in this present life all will go well, and before long, they will become just like Samantabhadra.

All negative acts—even the five of immediate retribution; Whatever they have committed in the grip of ignorance, will soon be completely purified, if they recite this Aspiration to Good Actions.

They will possess perfect wisdom, beauty, and excellent signs; Be born in a good family, and with a radiant appearance.

Demons and heretics will never harm them. All three worlds will honour them with offerings. They will quickly go beneath the bodhi tree; and there, they will sit, to benefit all sentient beings, then awaken into enlightenment, turn the wheel of Dharma, and tame Māra with all his hordes.

The full result of keeping, teaching, or reading this Prayer of Aspiration to Good Actions is known to the Buddhas alone:

Have no doubt: supreme enlightenment will be yours!

Dedication of the Merits of this Meritorious Aspiration

1. Dedication that Follows the Bodhisattvas

Just as the warrior Mañjuśrī attained omniscience, and Samantabhadra too, All these merits now I dedicate to train and follow in their footsteps.

2. Dedication that Follows the Buddhas

As all the victorious buddhas of past, present and future; Praise dedication as supreme, so now I dedicate all these roots of virtue

For all beings to perfect Good Actions.

3. Dedication towards Actualizing the Result

When it is time for me to die, let all that obscures me fade away, so I look on Amitābha, there in person, and go at once to his pure land of Sukhāvatī.

In that pure land, may I actualize every single one of all these aspirations!

May I fulfil them, each and every one, and bring help to beings for as long as the universe remains!

4. Dedication towards Receiving a Prophecy from the Buddhas

Born there in a beautiful lotus flower, In that excellent and joyous buddha realm, May the Buddha Amitābha himself grant me the prophecy foretelling my enlightenment!

5. Dedication towards Serving Others

Having received the prophecy there, with my billions of emanations,

Sent out through the power of my mind, may I bring enormous benefit to sentient beings, in all the ten directions!

Samanthabhadra

Conclusion

Through whatever small virtues I have gained

By reciting this “Aspiration to Good Actions”,

May the virtuous wishes of all beings’ prayers and aspirations

All be instantly accomplished!

Through the true and boundless merit

Attained by dedicating this “Aspiration to Good Actions”,

May all those now drowning in the ocean of suffering,

Reach the supreme realm of Amitābha!

May this King of Aspirations bring about

The supreme aim and benefit of all infinite sentient beings;

May they perfect what is described in this holy prayer, uttered by Samantabhadra!

May the lower realms be entirely emptied!

Words of Truth to Accomplish Aspirations

By the blessings of the buddhas who have attained the three kāyas,

And the unchanging truth of reality

As well as the unwavering aspirations of the Saṅgha,

May all the aspirations and dedication prayers be fulfilled!

“The King of Aspirations” comes from the Gandhavyuha Sutra, one of the greatest mahayana sutras. It is said that the Buddha taught it over twenty-one days, quite a short time. According to some explanations, the Gandavyuha is the most extensive and longest of the mahayana sutras. There are numerous versions of the sutra in widely differing lengths. The longest one has eighty-one volumes and exists in Chinese but not in Tibetan. Even this very long version, however, is not complete, for it has only 45,000 volumes and the full version has 100,000. It is also said that the sutra was taught in nine places, including the Radiant Palace, and various god realms, such as Tushita and Having Power Over Appearances to Others.

Golden Light Sutra

The Golden Light Sutra or Suvarṇaprabhāsa Sūtra ( Sanskrit: सुवर्णप्रभासोत्तमसूत्रेन्द्रराज ), is a Buddhist text of the Mahayana branch of Buddhism. In Sanskrit, the full title is The Sovereign King of Sutras, the Sublime Golden Light.

golden

The name of the sutra derives from the chapter called ” The Confession of the Golden Drum “, where the bodhisattva Ruchiraketu dreams of a great drum that radiates a sublime golden light, symbolizing the dharma or teachings of Gautama Buddha.

The Golden Light Sutra became one of the most important sutras in Japan because of its fundamental message, which teaches that the Four Heavenly Kings protect the ruler who governs his country in the proper manner.

The sutra also expounds the vows of the goddesses Sarasvatī, Lakṣmī and Dṛḍhā to protect any bhikṣu who will uphold and teach the sutra.

Sutra-of-Golden-Light

” This text is very precious; it brings peace and happiness and is very powerful to stop violence. It gives incredible protection to the country from violence etc. By hearing this text, one’s karma gets purified. ” – Lama Zopa Rinpoche

This text increases success and, especially for leaders like kings or presidents, brings success in guiding in virtue, the path to happiness. If anyone has problems; if the devas have turned against one and nothing is working; if one’s wealth declines or if one has harm from black magic or spirits, with bad dreams or fearful things happening, then one should wash, put on clean clothes and with a peaceful mind listen to the transmission of this text. Then all will be pacified. Anyone who hears it creates much merit and is highly admired by the buddhas.

In whichever country this is taught, the whole country benefits. The king of that country doesn’t get attacked and disease is eliminated, everyone is happy and the country becomes harmonious; there are no quarrels. The king gives religious freedom and is always protected by the devas. It is especially good to be read in places where there is a lot of fighting. As well, there is prosperity and rains come at the right time.

Anyone who keeps, memorizes or contributes to this text exceeds the eight worldly beings and all their wishes get fulfilled. Buddha told the four guardians to make offerings and serve this text, and always protect the people who memorize or even just read it. The four guardians acknowledged they would protect those who read it and would help and fulfill all their wishes.

Memorizing or making offerings to this text is like making inconceivable offerings to Buddha. Enlightenment will never be reversed within anyone in whose ear these holy words are spoken; the life will always be directed toward enlightenment and one will never fall back.

There is no question if you memorize the text. The deva, Hamachiwa Pala, told Buddha that she will protect the bhikshu who recites this text and he will receive all that is needed: property, a stable mind and so forth. Whoever even tries to read or understand this text will experience the comfort and happiness of devas and humans for 100 billion eons; fame and perfect crops; and will become a buddha.

The earth goddess definitely will help even if only one chapter or one bodhisattva’s name is mentioned; she will protect those sentient beings who even read and try to understand one verse ( four words ), and will fulfill their wishes.

Those sentient beings who hear only one verse will never go to the lower realms. The Buddha told the earth goddess that even if a person hears only one verse, they will be born in the deva realm. Further, the Buddha told the earth goddess the non-virtuous karma of the person who hears even one verse will be eliminated and they will achieve enlightenment.

Sitatapatra Mantra

sitatapatra

Sitatapatra (Sanskrit) or Dukkar (Tibetan) is regarded as the female counterpart of Avalokitesvara, the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion. Her name translates to ” White Victory Parasol “, which is a reflection of the powerful protection that she offers to practitioners. According to the Sitatapatra Sutra, she emerged from the sacred crown protrusion of Buddha Shakyamuni’s head while he was at Trayastrimsa heaven. The Buddha pronounced her role to “ completely cut asunder all malignant demons and all spells of others and to turn aside all enemies, dangers and hatred. “

Her elaborate form with a thousand arms, has skin that is white in colour like the moon. This form does not have just 0ne thousand arms but also one thousand faces and legs too. On each palm and sole of each foot, Sitatapatra has eyes that watches and protects all sentient beings. She holds onto an assortment of implements like Dharma wheels, Vajras, jewels, lotuses, double vajras, bows, swords, lassos and vajra hooks. But her principle implement is a white parasol that symbolizes victory over death, demons and negativities. Her thousand feet trample upon gods, demigods, ghosts, demons, humans, animals and all manner of obstructive beings.

The mantra of Shakyamuni Buddha could be said to be the essence of the Buddha, the essence of his enlightenment. It is in no way separated from the Buddha himself.

vajrasatva

vajrasattva-mantra-tibetanized-sanskrit

Meaning of the mantra: You, Vajrasattva, have generated the holy mind ( bodhicitta ) according to your pledge ( samaya ). Your holy mind is enriched with the simultaneous holy actions of releasing transmigratory beings from samsara ( the circling, suffering aggregates ). Whatever happens in my life ; happiness or suffering, good or bad – with a pleased, holy mind, never give up but please guide me. Please stabilize all happiness, including the happiness of the upper realms, actualize all actions and sublime and common realizations, and please make the glory of the five wisdoms abide in my heart.

Vajrasattva’s mantra is a powerful purification prayer that invokes the mindstreams of all the Buddhas. Recite the mantra 7 or 21 times or as many times as possible.

ngondro

” Before any confession, arousing the bodhichitta of intention and application is indispensable. The Buddha taught that confessing your evil deeds and downfalls without arousing bodhichitta, even though you might apply the four powers, will reduce your faults but not purify them altogether. Sincerely giving rise to bodhichitta, however, will of itself purify all past misdeeds, whatever they might be. “

And,

” If you stay undistracted and do not mix your recitation with ordinary speech, to say the hundred syllable mantra one hundred and eight times without interruption will undoubtedly purify all your evil actions and obscurations, and all violations and breaches of vows and samayas. Such is Vajrasattva’s promise. “

The Wonders of Great Compassion Mantra

avalokiteshvara

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva said: ” If any virtuous men or virtuous women, who recite and hold this holy Dharani,  Bodhicitta could be developed; Keep the Abstinent-precepts; With the heart of equality towards all living beings, keep reciting this Dharani without interruption – reside in a clean room, clean themselves, wear clean clothes, hang up streamers and light up lamps, make offerings with fragrances, flowers, vegetable foods of hundreds of tastes, stop their hearts from wandering, and recite and hold this Dharani; Then Sunlight Bodhisattva & Moonlight Bodhisattva and innumerable Gods and Immortals will come to bear witness and enhance the efficacy of their recitation. “

” At that time, I will illuminate them with a thousand eyes, and protect and support them with a thousand hands. From then on, they will be able to master all worldly literature, and will perfectly understand all Exterior paths’ theories and sorceries, as well as the Veda Scriptures. “

” One who recites and holds this holy mantra can heal all the 84000 kinds of diseases of the world, without exception. He also can command all ghosts and spirits, vanquish heavenly demons, and tame all Exterior paths practitioners. “

” If one is reading Sutras or practicing Dhyana (Zen) in a mountain or in wilderness, and some mountain-spirits, various ghosts, demons, monsters or Devas come to disturb and make one unable to concentrate, recite this mantra once, then all those ghosts and spirits will be tied up. “

” If one can recites this Mantra in accord with Dharma and arouse merciful and compassionate heart towards all living beings, I will then command all virtuous Gods, Dragon Kings, and Vajra Secret-Traces Divinities to always follow and guard him, never leaving his side, guarding him as their own eyes and lives. “

compassion

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva then said a misfortune-eliminating and refreshingly cool Gatha ( verse ):

When walking in wilderness, mountain or marsh,
if encountering tigers, wolves, or other fierce beasts,
or snakes, spirits, demons, monsters, ghosts,
they will be unable to harm the Mantra-holder when they hear this Mantra;

When voyaging on river or sea,
poisoned dragons, flood dragons and Makaras, Yaksas, Rakshas, fishes, and soft-shelled turtles, will dodge when they hear this Mantra;

If besieged by battle arrays or robbers,
or being robbed by villains,
recite the Great Compassion Dharani sincerely, those villains will show mercy and go back;

If one is imprisoned by government official, jailed, chained and locked,
recite the Great Compassion Dharani sincerely, the officer will show mercy and set him free;

If entered a house of a poisonous insects raising family in a wild way, the family purpose to venom with drinks, foods or medicines,
recite the Great Compassion Dharani sincerely,
the poison will turn to nectar;

When a woman is giving birth to a child,
evil demons comes to obstruct the birth and causing suffering and oppressive pain, recite the Great Compassion Dharani sincerely,
the demons will disperse, leaving a safe and comfortable birth;

If evil dragons or pestilence ghosts spread poison,
people are infected by pyrexia and about to die,
recite the Great Compassion Dharani sincerely,
diseases will be healed and lives of people will be lengthen;

If evil dragons or ghosts spread the tumescent diseases,
people suffer from carbuncles, sore, abscess, ulcer and bleeding, recite the Great Compassion Dharani sincerely,
then spit three times to the abscesses and it will be cured.

If there are muddled and wicked living beings who aroused immoral minds, causing hatred by sending nightmares, ghosts and curses to you,
recite the Great Compassion Dharani sincerely,
then the hexes and evil spells will return to its original senders.

When Dharma is about to disappear,
the world is evil, feculent and disordered,
people’s sexual desire are like raging fire,
their hearts are deluded and they confuse right and wrong.
They have adulteries behind their spouses,
and think of lust days and nights ceaselessly.
If they can recite the Great Compassion Dharani sincerely,
the fire of sexual desire will quench and the evil minds will extinguish.

JAI-CN03034

If anyone prays for any wish in his present life, he should keep the Abstinent- precepts and keep reciting this Dharani for 21 days, then his wishes will certainly be fulfilled. From the verge of the previous death to the verge of the next birth, all his evil karmas will be purified.

If a human or heavenly being, who recites and holds this Dharani, baths in a river or a sea, the nearby living beings wet by his bathwater will have all their weighty sins cleaned and be reborn in purelands of other directions. They will be born through miraculous creation from lotuses.

If one who recites and holds this Dharani is walking, a wind blows his hair and clothes, then the living beings blown by the wind that previously touched the Mantra holder will have all their heavy obstructions and evil karmas cleansed, will not continue to suffer from karmas of the three evil paths, and often be born in front of Buddhas. It should be known that the Mantra holder’s blessings, virtues, and rewards will be unimaginable.

If the Mantra holder says anything, no matter good or bad, it sounds like pure Dharma – to all heavenly demons, Exterior paths practitioners, Gods, Dragons, Ghosts, and Spirits, thus they will respect the Mantra holder as if he were a Buddha.

As to one who recites and holds this Dharani, we should know that he is a store of Buddha-bodies, because he is cherished by 9.9 billions Buddhas.

We should know that he is a brilliant light store, because he is illuminated by the light of all Tathagatas.

We should know that he is a store of mercies and compassions, because he constantly saves living beings with this Dharani.

We should know that the he is a store of Dhyana and Samadhi, because hundreds of thousands of Samadhis often appear in front of him.

We should know that the he is an Empty Spaces store, because he constantly observes living beings with wisdom of emptiness.

We should know that the he is a store of intrepidities, because he is constantly guarded by Dragons, Gods, and virtuous Gods.

We should know that the he is a Wonderful Language store, because the Dharani-Sound come from his mouth is uninterrupted.

We should know that the he is an Eternally-Abiding store, because the three-disasters and evil-kalpas cannot harm him.

We should know that the he is a Liberation store, because Heavenly Demons and Exterior Paths Practitioners cannot detain him.

We should know that the he is a Medicine King store, because he constantly heals living beings with this Dharani.

We should know that the he is a supernatural power store, because he can freely travel round the Buddha Worlds.

The glorifications for the merits and virtues of the Mantra holder are endless.

compassion

If he recites the Dharani for all living beings that he sees, make them hear the Dharani and make it become a cause of their achievement of Bodhi, then, his merits and virtues are immeasurable, boundless, and cannot be praised completely.

If he wish to command the four guardian gods, he should recite towards a sandalwood and burn it, then he will achieve the goal – because the power of the Bodhisattva’s great compassionate vows are deep and weighty, and the power of this holy Dharani is mighty and vast.

The Buddha told Ananda: ” When there are catastrophes in a country, if the King of the country can manage state affairs according to correct laws, be liberal toward people and animals, not to do anybody any injustice, and for 7 days & 7 nights, keep both his body and his mind sincere and diligent, and in this way recite and hold this Great Compassionate Heart Dharani Holy Mantra, then all the catastrophes of his country will disappear, the five kinds of crops will be abundant and his people will live in peace and happiness. “

” If a country is being frequently invaded by enemies from other countries, people are unsafe and ministers are traitorous, pestilences are spreading everywhere, the rains and the droughts are unbalanced and unseasonable, or even the sun and the moon lost their accuracy, when such disasters come, the people should make a statue of Thousand-Handed and Thousand-Eyed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva and set it facing the west, make offerings to it sincerely with fragrances, flowers, streamers, precious canopies, or vegetable foods and drinks of hundreds of tastes, and, for 7 days & 7 nights, if the King of the country can keep both his body and mind sincere and diligent, and in this way recite and hold this Dharani, then the foreign enemies will be tamed of themselves, they will return to their own countries and make no further disturbance. These countries will be in communication and will have friendly relations, the princes and officers will be loyal, the queen, the prince’s wife, and the maids will also be loyal to the king. Dragons, ghosts and spirits will protect this country, the rains will be seasonal, the fruits will be abundant, and the people will be happy. “

” If anyone in a family gets a serious evil disease, or if hundreds of monsters appear, or if ghosts, spirits, and demons deplete and demolish the family; or if some villains malign the family and plot to harm them; or if the members of the family are disharmonious, they should set up a Mandala ( altar ) in front of a statue of Thousand-Handed and Thousand- Eyed Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, recite the name of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva with their deep-felt sincere heart, and then recite this Dharani fully 1000 times, then all those misfortunes will disappear, the family will be peaceful forever. “
